The all new and all electric FIM E-Xplorer motorcycling World Cup returns to competition next weekend at its ‘home course’ in Vollore-Montagne around the Auvergne volcano chain and the Monts du Lyonnais in central France on Saturday 29th July.
The French event represents Round Three of this inaugural series and is a return to the location of the first testing event of the series ten months ago and will provide a stunning location at 850 meters altitude in the location where the project was born. The series, which recently published its road map introducing a new prototype category from season 2024, is designed to promote the growth of electric innovation within the two-wheel world plus the equality messaging as each team consists of a male and female rider.
Leading the series is the MIE duo of Sandra Gomez and Jorge Zaragoza who enter the event with a 19-point lead over the French EM squad of Christophe Bruand and Marine Lemione who together with Gravity Racing’s Camille Chapeliere represent the ‘home’ riders for the local crowds. They will be racing amongst a field of nine teams and 18 riders from nine different countries and three continents.
There will also be several changes to the line up this weekend with front running Euro GP rider, Jessica Gardiner replacing E-Xplorer leading rider, Sandra Gomez who is racing in the Red Bull Romaniac event this weekend. Meanwhile six time Motocross World Champion, Kiara Fontensi will be riding for Gravity and Dylan Woodcock and Rosie Rowlett will be the Fanatics duo and Nieve Holmes will pair up with Alex Andreis for Backyard Racing Lizcat Factory Team.
Said Founder and CEO, Valentin Guyonnet, “Of course we are delighted to be racing in Vollore-Montagne this weekend. This venue is where the E-Xplorer project was born and the location of our first-ever test. It is also in the heart of the most popular area for enduro in Europe and we will be racing with the volcano chain background in this stunning area of France. It is a demanding course which will be similar to the last round at Crans-Montana in the Valais region of the Swiss Alps a month ago, with the addition of a number of very cool obstacles to really test our riders skills. It is going to be a fantastic celebration of electric two-wheel racing in an incredible backdrop. We are all very excited for the weekend."
